Both young men and virgins;
Old men and children.
Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For His name alone is exalted (Psalm 148.12-13).
Dr Hal Habecker's Comments:
Each of these verses is a multigenerational call of praise to the church. Let’s list the generations noted.
Young men
Virgins
Old men
Children
All mankind
Sons and daughters
Young men
Old men
I think that covers every age and both men and women. The call to praise and lead the church is truly a multigenerational reality. Every church needs all the generations.
Commentary (ref www.BibleRef.com)
The book of Psalms is composed of individual songs, hymns, or poems, each of which is a ''Psalm'' in and of itself. These works contain a wide variety of themes. Some Psalms focus on praising and worshipping God. Others cry out in anguish over the pain of life. Still other Psalms look forward to the coming of the Messiah. While some Psalms are related, each has its own historical and biblical context.
